BPS’s Unique “Grow Your Own” Teacher Pipeline Programs
BPS TEACHING FELLOWSHIP (BPSTF)
The Boston Public School Teaching Fellowship (BPSTF) is the state’s only approved district-based educator preparation program to endorse teachers for initial licensure in Moderate Disabilities and English as a Second Language (ESL). BPSTF offers individualized and intensive coaching and mentoring throughout DESE’s required fieldwork (CAP Cycle). Coursework is centered on anti-racist, equity-oriented pedagogy and practices and prioritizes preparing Fellows to be inclusive educators. BPSTF welcomes teachers with emergency, provisional or temporary licensure and/or teachers teaching on waivers who have not yet completed an educator preparation program.
This fellowship is free.
BE/ACTT
The BPS Bilingual Educators & Accelerated Community to Teacher (BE/ACTT) Program is a part of an overarching strategy to increase the diversity of exemplary educators in the district’s teacher pipeline. It is a free, intensive program designed to prepare racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse Boston residents OR BPS paraprofessionals, and substitutes who hold a bachelor’s degree.
You do not need to be bilingual to join our program! We have a pathway for BOTH bilingual educators and monolingual educators.
Diversity in BPS
BPS shall ensure that every student learns from effective, equity-centered educators with deep content knowledge and culturally-responsive practices. The Office of Human Resources is committed to recruiting, hiring, retaining and supporting a racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse workforce of effective educators, school leaders, and staff. Boston Public Schools encourages applications from members of other historically marginalized groups, such as people with disabilities and people who identify as LGBTQ+.
